2 die as tree falls on them

Two people were killed as a tree fell on their motorbike on Manirampur-Dhakuria road at Gangra in Manirampur upazila yesterday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Kumaresh Biswas, 60, a resident of Nauli village in upazila and Abdul Alim, 50, a resident of Malanchi village of Sadar upazila. Biplab Kumar Nath, officer-in-charge of Monirampur Police Station, said one Motaleb Gazi was cutting a tree near the road in the area around 12.00pm.
At one stage, a branch of the tree collapsed on the motorcycle carrying Kumaresh and Abdul Alim, leaving them dead on the spot.
