Strict implementation of job quota for physically challenged people stressed

RANGPUR: Human rights activists at a meeting here have stressed on strict implementation of the fixed government job quota for the physically challenged people in the government, non-government and private organizations, reports BSS. They made these observations at the meeting of the District Employment Implementation Committee for Physically Challenged People at its office in Katchari Bazaar area in Rangpur city on Wednesday evening.
ADD International, Rangdhanu District Protibondhi Adhikar Sangstha  and Prottyasha Protibondhi Nari O Shishu Unnayan Sangstha assisted in arranging the meeting with assistance of Manusher Janna Foundation. Presided over by President of the committee Advocate MA Basher Tipu, members of the committee and leaders of different organisations working for welfare of the disabled people participated in the meeting. The meeting discussed various issues for strengthening organisational activities of the committee and availing bank loans to set up handloom and cottage industries for the physically challenged people to create job opportunities for them.
The meeting decided to create marketing opportunities of the bags being produced by physically challenged people, inclusion of new members in their organisations and formation of upazila level employment implementation committees. Senior Vice-president of the committee Monwar Hossain, its Vice-president Advocate Khairul Anam Kalam, General Secretary Tamzida Zannati Shilpi, Joint Secretary Mamun Islam, Organising Secretary Harun-Ur-Rashid, addressed, among others. President of Rangdhanu District Protibondhi Adhikar Sangstha Nur Alam criticised violation in implementation of the fixed government job quota for the disabled people by some government departments in recent times while employing the citizens against various posts. Senior Vice-president of the committee Monwar Hossain suggested for engaging coordinated efforts in exploring employment opportunities of the persons with disabilities in the government, non-government, private sectors and business organisations and other institutions. Advocate Tipu urged authorities of the government and non-government
organisations and private bodies for strict implementation of the fixed government job quota for physically challenged people to mainstream them in the
society.
