The country’s 465 upazilas will come under 100 per cent electricity coverage by 2018, said Major General Moin Uddin, chairman of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board.
REB chairman said this at a conference of deputy general managers of the Rural Electrification Society held at the headquarters of Rural Electrification Board in the capital yesterday, said a press statement.
He also said quality and safety as well as smooth power supply will have to be ensured for the countrymen by 2021.
Under the roadmap to bring all upazilas under electricity coverage, seven upazilas will be brought under electricity coverage by September, 22 upazilas by December this
year while 20 upazilas will come under full electricity coverage by March 2017 and 70 upazilas by June next year, the statement added.
