Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday sealed off a blood bank in the capital and fined Tk 2 lakh for not collecting and preserving blood safely. Talking to The Independent, RAB-2 Director Lt Col SM Masud Rana said getting secret information, a team of RAB raided at Green View Clinic at Kalabagan in the capital. We saw that the clinic authority was preserving blood in normal refrigerator, he added. They were not also scanning blood, cross matching, said Lt Col Rana adding that there was no information of the blood donors in the bags, which is a mandatory. We also came to know that the clinic authority was collecting bloods from professional blood sellers who are drug addicts, RAB-2 boss claimed. Later RAB executive magistrate Helal Uddin fined Tk 2 lakh in this connection.
