Bangladesh shorter-formats captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said that legendary bowler Courtney Walsh’s appointment as a fast bowling coach will create an impact on Test cricket of Bangladesh.
“Firstly I think, Bangladesh will share dressing room with a great bowler like him. A huge impact will be fallen on pace bowling department especially in Test cricket. I hope like others players to get the maximum benefit from him,” said Mashrafee Bin Mortaza yesterday.
Citing Walsh as his childhood idol, Mashrafe said that he is delighted more thinking that we could share dressing room and experience with such a legendary bowler.
“Since my childhood, I was a fan of Courtney Walsh. We have many things to learn from him. Overall, I’m more excited to get him as a bowling coach. We could be shared dressing room with such a personality. At this moment, we are more excited for it,” the captain told at a formal press briefing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“He is my cricket idol. So, my excitement is more than others players. I follow him just not being a coach, I follow him what he did and doing,” he also said.
“Walsh is one of the greatest bowlers of the cricket world. I think, he was more passionate for Test cricket. He played 132 Test matches in his cricket career what Kapil Dev like players did. It would be better learning from him what I saw before and after my cricket career. As a pace bowler, he played Test cricket so long being fit and passionate. The bowlers of our country will be more benefited by him. He has bowling specialty beside other qualities. A coach will understand better what will be needed for a bowler.
“Each coach has different technical sound of coaching. So, it will be understood while he will come here. At this moment, I have nothing more to make comment over him.
“There will be that chance while national team, academy or high performance team’s practice camp or net practice starts. It is open for all. All will take the opportunity from him.
