The special task forces of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) had fined Tk 2.04 crore to a total of 62 industrial, commercial and residential entities in a month long drive conducted from August 1 to August 31, said a press release of DPDC.
The taskforce on the process had unearthed the theft of 11.10 lakh unit electricity by those entities, added the release.
The drives were conducted by four separate teams under the leadership of DPDC taskforce head Mohammad Munir Chowdhury. The drives were conducted in Moghbazar, Maniknagar, Lalbagh, Kamrangir Char, Demra, Bongshal, Banasri, Banglabazaar, Adabor, She-i-Bangla Nagar area of the capital.
