Ekushey Padak winner Professor Emeritus Majibur Rahman died of old age complications at a hospital in the capital on Monday, reports BSS.
He was 96. Dr Rahman was founding professor and departmental head of Blood Transfusion Centre of the then PG Hospital, now Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), former President of Blood Transfusion Society of Bangladesh (BTSB) and member of Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine (AATM).
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor expressed profound shock at the death of Dr Rahman and prayed for salvation of the departed soul. He conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Transfusion Medicine Department of BSMMU, BTSB and AATM, Bangladesh Chapter also condoled the death.
