Maldives host Bangladesh in FIFA friendly today

Bangladesh national football team will take on Maldives in their only preparation match in Male today ahead of their AFC Cup qualifying round play offs.
The match will kickoff at 10pm (BST).
It will be the debut match for the national team’s head coach Julianus Maria Tom Saintfiet and his full coaching staff including the technical and strategic director Paul Thomas Smally, trainer Rido Bardin, goalkeeping coach Ryan Stamford and assistant coach Zakaria Babu.
Bangladesh will face the Maldives with bitter experience in the SAFF Football of 1-3 goals defeat in Kerala, India last year.
Though it is only a friendly affairs but something important, as well as prestigious match for Bangladesh team while they have been suffering from winning drought in international arena.
In recent time Bangladesh did not taste any win after a 3-0 victory over Bhutan in Kerala in SAFF Championship.
Bangladesh team is very much hunger for a win and if they could mange a win in the friendly match today, it would be certainly boost up for them for the first match of the AFC Cup play offs against Bhutan on 6th September.
However, according to a message from Maldives through Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) that it was heavy rain overnight in Male and also continued yesterday, therefore, Bangladesh team could not go for morning session practice, though had the evening session at 4pm (local time).
Tom Saintfiet, who joined the team in Male from Belgium on Tuesday is very much strict with the players discipline.
