Chuadanga: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered decomposed remains of a schoolboy from a septic tank of a house in C&B area of the district town early yesterday, after long 32 days of his alleged abduction, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Mahfuz Alam Sajib, 15, son of late Habibur Rahman of Dashami village in Damurhuda upazila.
He was an eighth-grader of Chuadanga VJ Govt High School.
Quoting family members, Manir Ahmed, captain of RAB-6 of Jhenidah, said a gang of criminals had abducted Sajib on July 29 when he went to visit an agriculture fair in Damurhuda upazila headquarters.
On the following day, the abductors demanded Tk20 lakh from the family as ransom for his release.
Although the family agreed to pay the ransom money, the abductors killed the boy and concealed his body inside the septic tank of a house in C&B colony area.
After month-long frantic searches, RAB members lastly recovered his decomposed remains from the septic tank yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, a group of people, identifying themselves as members of a law enforcing agency, arrested the house owner, Rakibul Islam, in connection with the incident.
