Spinners from both BCB Red XI and BCB Green sides showed their domination over pacers in the lone Twenty20 practice match ahead of the upcoming home series against the high-ranked South Africa.
Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza led BCB Red trounced Shakib Al Hasan led BCB Green by six runs in the warm-up match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged the match, which turned to be trial match as selectors will select the final squad of Tigers for the forthcoming home series against the Proteas after the match.
It is known from the BCB insiders that there is every possibility to make room one or few uncapped players in the final Twenty20 squad of the home side.
After the approval of the BCB president, the local squad for the imminent full-fledged series will be announced within tomorrow.
Back to the match, BCB Red decided to bat first after winning the toss and mustered 136 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs with all-rounder Nasir Hossain top-scoring with an unbeaten 57. He clobbered seven boundaries on way to play 43 deliveries.
Imrul Kayes struck 24-ball 34 with five boundaries before being caught by Shuvagata Hom off Jubaer Hossain Likhon. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (14) and Rony Talukdar (11) were the other double digit scorers for the BCB Red.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam was the most successful bowler, who finished his figure with 3-25 in his 4-over quota. Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scalped a brace for 19. Young sensation Mustafizur Rahman and Jubair Hossain Likhon picked up one wicket each for Green.
In reply, BCB Green started chasing the target of 137 but when they put on 128 for two in 12 overs the authority then set another target of 196 for Green. At this situation, BCB Green managed to score 189 for seven in 20 overs.
Hard-hitting opener Tamim Iqbal struck 92-run for the opening stand with Anamul Haque Bijoy. Tamim hammered 52 just from 30 balls with the help of the seven boundaries before being dismissed.
Bijoy fell two runs short of his half-century. The right-handed batsman slammed 32-ball 48, clubbing seven fours. Shakib struck a brisk 43 off 22 with seven boundaries. Abul Hasan Raju remained unbeaten on 20.
Leg-spinner Sabbir Rahman snapped up two wickets for 22. Sohag Gazi, Arafat Sunny and Nasir Hossain grabbed one wicket each for the winners.
