No concession on questions of rooting out militancy: Nasim
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim

Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday said that there would not be any concession on the questions of the country’s development and militancy, reports BSS.
“No benefit could be derived by going for long march. We shall certainly implement our decisions for the interest of the country. So, for the greater interest of the country’s progress, there won’t be any concession on the questions of development and militancy,” he said.
Nasim said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion at Shaheed Doctor Milon auditorium of Dhaka Medical College in the city yesterday.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital unit of Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad (SCP) organised the discussion marking the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Convener of the organisation Dr Debesh Chandra Talukdar presided over the discussion, also addressed, among others, by Awami League joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni, former adviser to the Prime Minister Dr Syed Modasser Ali, former lawmaker Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, SCP president Prof Dr M Iqbal Arslan, secretary general Prof Dr MA Aziz, vice-president Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua and principal of Dhaka Medical College Prof Dr Ismail Khan.
Nasim said, “We have caught militants but Khaleda Zia and other BNP leaders expressed their doubt whether they were militants or not. But those who had been nabbed confessed that they are militants. They also uttered that they are ready to go to the heaven. Despite that Khaleda Zia conveyed her doubt whether they are militants or not.”
“They slaughtered human-beings for their desire to go to the heaven. Islam doesn’t permit such a heinous type of actions. Their fathers have declined to receive the bodies of these militants after autopsy. Such a situation has arisen as they have chosen the path of militancy,” the minister added.
Turning to the Monday’s Bangladesh visit of the US Secretary of State John Kerry, the senior Awami League leader said, “John Kerry assured of working together with Bangladesh in containing terrorism. In his speech, he (Kerry) remarked that Bangabandhu’s competent daughter (Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina) has been leading his golden country towards progress and prosperity.”
