Satkhira: A madrasah teacher in Satkhira has reportedly been absent from work for nearly two years, reports UNB.
Abu Taher Jiauddin Mohammad Yusuf, now a former assistant teacher at the Banshdaha Alhaj Mohammad Ali Dakhil Madrasah in Satkhira, was hailed from Agarhati village in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore district.
It was learned from the madrasah that he last attended it on September 13, 2014.
Further confusing matters, his name though does appear in the attendance record till October 18 of that year.
An injunction was served for him to return to work in the madrasah, but elicited no response. Nor did notices in local and national media.
Although the upazila education office somehow got hold of him in February 2015, efforts to resolve the matter of his absence and possibly returning to work fizzled out as he remained evasive.
Local administration officials seem to know very little of him from even before his disappearance. They stress though, that they know nothing to suggest he may have slipped into extremism or militancy.
