Slamming BNP's opposition in constructing a coal fired power plant in Rampal, Awami League publicity and publication secretary Hasan Mahmud yesterday said the aim of BNP is to hinder country's development, UNB reports.
"The main aim of BNP is not saving environment. Rather the aim of BNP is to hinder the country's development. Finding no other issue, the party has snatched issue of others," he said.
Hasan Mahmud, also a former minister, said this while addressing a press conference organised at the Awami League president’s Dhanmondi political office to reply to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s remarks regarding Rampal Power Plant.
The Awami League leader also said that the another aim of BNP's opposition is to hinder friendly relations between Bangladesh and neighboring India. He came down hard on Prof Anu Muhammad, the member secretary of the National Committee to protect oil, gas and mineral resources, power and port saying " It becomes a problem when a teacher of Economics turns into an environment expert."
