Off-spinner Arafat Sunny is confident after being improved his bowling action, stating he will once again return to international cricket strongly.
“As of now I’m fully focusing on my bowling. As I have a problem I’m drilling, practicing and focusing on how I can overcome this. I don’t look at other matters at this moment,” said Arafat Sunny, who recently lost his father.
“All my coaching staffs, who were working with me, told that my action has been better than the past. Now I was following what I needed to cross the hurdle of the bowling test. Alhamdulillah, everything is going well,” Sunny told newsman.
“I’ve seen many bowlers earlier faced the same thing and come back in action by the grace of Allah. I’m also hopeful of coming back strongly in bowling again,” he added.
Sunny said that he has been working with his problem since his suspension form international cricket.
“I’m working with my problem. I had problem in landing, which used to stretch earlier but now is being paralleled. If I could do it in right way, Inshaallah, my bowling action will be okayed,” the left-arm spinner said.
“I’ve worked with Ruwan Kalpage. I have sent my bowling videos to him. After watching these videos he would advise me where my lacking is. I had a constant communication with him.”
“Nobody understands it. Even I didn’t tell anybody. I think I do my own work. It would be helpful for me if he would stay or someone would stay beside me in this time. Here my bowling video has been analysed. Those who work here give me advice. Nasu bhai, Salahuddin bhai suggested me in this regard,” he also said.
He believes that he bowls in one action so if he regularly practice on it then it will be possible to amend.
“I am confident about my test what I tried in front of them. My bowling action has been better than the past. Even in skill practice coach commented on me to see my better action,” he said, adding “I’ve bowling in one action so there will be a deficit. I could be overcome if I regularly practice on new action.”
Sunny along with pacer Taskin Ahmed has been suspended from bowling in international cricket for illegal action during the 2016 World T20. The duo will fly together for Brisbane’s National Cricket Centres on September 5 to attend the bowling test. The test for both Taskin and Arafat will be held at the same day on September 8.
The training camp of the Bangladesh team formally will end on September 5 before the Eid vacation though they will play their third practice match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on September 6. Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha is likely to accompany with them in Australia during this vacation.
