Left arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain Rubel was drafted into the preliminary squad of Bangladesh national team for the first time after his link to the rebellious ICL.
He was banned for 10 years subsequently along with his other colleagues but got a general clemency later to return to the cricket. A talented left arm spinner whom former spinner Mohammad Rafique termed as his successor after his retirement then never awakened a hope to get back to the national team as Bangladesh saw a splash of spinners. And by the time Shakib Al Hasan established him as the prime spinner of the team with other spinners accompanying him to strengthen the Bangladesh’s spin department.
Rubel however never backed out from the dream of playing into the national team once again despite he crossed the age 30 much earlier. He kept him fit and continuing the good performance in the domestic circuit to draw the selectors’ attention repeatedly but the opportunity somehow eluded him.
Finally the perseverance paid off and opportunity came to his way somewhat bizarrely. As Arafat Sunny is doubtful to have his aura back with remodeled action even though his suspension was withdrawn, Bangladesh lacked a spinner to partner Shakib. Other spinners on the other hand couldn’t do much better than him what gave Mosharraf a second lifeline.
Still it is no sure if he makes his way to the final 15-member squad but for a bowler who has not played any international game since 2008, it is a relief at least to be selected in the preliminary squad. He will play the rest of the two warm-up matches which the national team members play splitting two groups.

During catching practice on August 27, Tamim has fractured his little finger but it was not very series. He was subsequently undergone an X-ray that revealed his left little finger was fractured, which did not spread and is in one place.
