BCB to name new fast bowling coach Sept 1

Walsh likely to replace Streak
Sports Reporter

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is all set to announce the name of new fast  bowling coach on September 1, it is learnt yesterday.
It is further learnt that the BCB has already chosen the coach for the national team’s fast bowlers. Most likely it is former West Indies great Courtney Walsh who is going to replace Zimbewan fast bowling coach Heath Streak..
A source close to BCB said that that the contract between Walsh and BCB would be made during the first week of next month.
The 53-year old legendary Caribbean paceman who claimed 519 wickets in 132 Tests and 227 wickets in 205 ODIs, is expected to sign  a deal with the BCB till the next ICC World Cup 2019 like other foreign coaching staffs. The next ICC World will be held in England for the fifth time.
The source further revealed that he will then return to the country after signing the contract and will come back to take the charge of the team after the holiday of Eid-ul-Azha.
Walsh at the moment is contracted with the West Indies as the national selector. His contract expired after  series against India, that ended with the T20 series in USA. He is likely to resign from his post within a couple of days.
Ever since the departure of former Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak, whose two-year deal with the Bangladesh came to an end in May this year, the role of fast bowling coach has been vacant. Aaqib Javed was initially chosen for the role but he later rejected the offer to take the charge of PSL team Lahore Qalanders. BCB had shortlisted the name of South African legend Alan Donald and Sri Lankan Chaminda Vaas for the post but Walsh finally was chosen. The giant Caribbean fast bowler though never worked as bowling coach previously but his profile nonetheless is immaculate.
The right-arm fast bowler made his Test debut against Australia back in 1986 in Perth and retired from international cricket against South Africa in Kingston in 2001.
Walsh later worked as the West Indies Under-19 manager for the 2012 U-19 World Cup and featured in several radio and television commentary programmes before being appointed as the national selector in August 2014. He was handed a two-year contract by the West Indies Cricket Board.
