Bangladesh Under-16 women football team celebrate their big 5-0 win over Singapore in the Asian Football Tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital yesterday. BFF PHOTO

A rampant Bangladesh thrashed  Singapore 5-0 in the AFC Under-16 Women’s qualifying round matches at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Captain Krishna Rani lead the Bangladesh girls from the front with two goals followed by another brace from Anuching Mogimi and a Mousumi solo.
Bangladesh women though won the match with big margin but they had to struggle for goals for long period of first half as the Singapore girls and their custodian kept the hosts at bay.
Their missing trial started from the seventh minute with Shopna, who wasted the easiest of chances fired the ball outside the post on a Marzia cross.
Captain Krishna showed a painful display when she could lead with converting her close range header but her effort went just kissing the cross piece on 19th minute.
Krishna made another mistake on 30th minute when her aimless shot from inside the box went outside the post and that time also it was an open net.
However, captain Krishna Rani finally broke the deadlock on 39th minute to lead the hosts by 1-0 in the first half.
After the frustrating first half, Bangladesh looked sharp to find the net in the very second minute of the second half when Krishna Rani doubled her and team’s lead.
After 2-0 lead, Bangladesh women spoiled a series of scoring opportunities from inside the box and had to wait for increasing the margin for a long.
Anuching Mogimi made the tally 3-0 on 83rd minute and Moushumi made it 4-0 on 86th while Anuching struck her second in the stoppage time to have a delightful victory (5-0).
Earlier, Chinese Taipei kept their winning run in the AFC Under-16 qualifying round when they comfortably won 5-0 against United Arab Emirates and Iran crushed Kyrgyzstan by 9-0 to grab their first win.
In the day’s first match yesterday, Iran, who suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of host Bangladesh scored five goals in the first half and added four more in the second half.
Fatmeh Ghaemi struck five goals and twice from Fatmeh Makhdoumi steered Iran to a huge win while Jalal Nasab and Torkman added one each.
In the day’s second match, Chinese Taipei also earned their second easy win when they blanked United Arab Emirates by 5-0.
Chinese Taipei, who downed Kyrgyzstan by 7-1 in their opener, led the first half by 1-0 with Tseng Yun-Ya opened the scoring on 18th minute while they added four goals in the second half with Yu Ya-Xuan scored twice and Wu Yu Jou, Jheng Ya-Zih scored one goal each.
