Worker dies falling off ship
A worker died after falling from a ship at a ship breaking yard in Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong early yesterday, reports BSS.
The victim was identified as Rajon, 30, a worker of KR Recycling Shipyard. He was from Bkoteyarpara village of Sitakunda upazila. Rajon was critically injured as he fell down from a ship while he was working at the ship breaking yard around 4.30am yesterday, sources said.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the attending doctors declared him dead, said Nayek HamidurRahman of CMCH police outpost.

Student crushed under wheels
A female student of Rajshahi University was crushed under the wheels of a train in Meherchandi area under Motiher Police Station in Rajshahi city on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Shantana Boshak, 23, a third year honours student of Department of Sociology. She is daughter of Narendra Nath Boshak of Nadhainagar village of Tarash Upazila under Sirajgonj district. Quoting locals police sources said she met the tragic accident while a Dhaka-bound inter-city train hit her when she was crossing the railway track around 4.15 pm. She was immediately rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries in the evening.

Two Jamaat leaders arrested
A union level Ameer and another activist of Jamaat-E-Islami Bangladesh were arrested from Gangachara and Pirgachha in Rangpur on Sunday, police sources said.
A special police team from Gangachara Thana conducted a raid and arrested Ameer of Betgari union unit of Jamaat Afaz Uddin, 45, from his village Moulaviapara under Gangachara upazila. “The arrested person is a charge sheeted accused of several cases filed against him for his involvement with subversive activities,” Officer-in-Charge of Gangachara Thana Zinnat Ali said. In another raid, police force from Pirgachha Thana arrested absconding Jamaat leader Mahbubur Rahman, 55, of village Tambulpur under Pirgachha upazila this morning.

Two killed in road accidents
Two people including a traffic police were killed and 30 others injured in separate accidents in Ashulia in Savar on Sunday.
A police constable was killed as a pickup van hit him on the Bypile- Abdullapur Highway in Ashulia Bazaar at about 7 am while he was on his duty, said traffic police in-charge Farhad Hyder. The deceased was Nitul Fakir, 40, son of Safij Uddin Fakir, a resident of Chusara village under Nagarkanda Thana in Faridpur district. In another accident, a garment worker was killed as a truck ran over him in Zirani Majar road area this morning. The deceased was Mosiur Rahman, 27, a store keeper of Northern Fashion Garments and son of Hamid Miah, a resident of Mitipur village under Pirganj upazila in Rangpur district.
