Human chain protesting militancy

RANGPUR: Leaders of Bangladesh Druggist and Chemist Association (BCDA) here yesterday said Islam is the religion of peace and the real believers can never kill innocent people or even cause any harm to the living beings, reports BSS.
They made these observations at a human chain organised by district unit of BCDA as part of their nationwide programme in Dhap area in the city protesting against the brutal assassinations of August 15 and August 21, terrorism and militancy in the country.
With president of district unit of BCDA Md Abdul Kader in the chair, a large number of members of the organisation participated in the hour-long programme followed by a protest rally. General Secretary of district unit of BCDA Khondker Maruf Elahi, its leaders Hafizur Rahman, Golam Mostafa, Nawshad Ali and Ahsan Habib, addressed the rally, among others. The speakers strongly condemned the militant attacks and killings of innocent foreigners and local citizens at Gulshan, Sholakia and other places, terrorism, fundamentalist extremism, secret and targeted killings in the country.
Narrating devil designs of the vested quarters to destabilise the country, they urged the common people to become united like that in 1971 for resisting terrorism, militancy, killings, anarchy and brutality in the name of Islam, the religion of peace.
In his concluding speech, Abdul Kader said some vested quarters have pushed wrong concept about Islam into the mind of few youths forcing them to conduct militant and terrorist attacks and kill innocent people for creating anarchy in the country.
“Those, who have been conducting militant attacks and killing innocent people, are enemies of Islam and the country,” he said and called upon the common people for unitedly resisting these evil forces to further accelerate the pace of development.
