The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday upheld bail for three officials of Agrani Bank in a graft case, reports BSS.
A five-member Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order, dismissing a leave to appeal filed by ACC against a High Court order that upheld their bail granted by the lower court. The three officials are deputy managing director of the bank Mizanur Rahman Khan, deputy general manager Md Akhtarul Alam and assistant general manager Md Shafiullah.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on June 30 lodged the case against eight for sanctioning Taka 108 crore loan to Moon Group based on false information and withdrawing Taka 94.80 crore from the loan in phases.
The three officials were arrested on July 1 and Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge on August 4 granted bail to them. ACC filed an appeal with the High Court against the bail order, but the High Court too upheld their bail. Later the complainant filed a leave to appeal with the apex court.
