Afghanistan cricket team will arrive in Dhaka on September 21 to play a three-match one-day series with Bangladesh. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon stated this to media at his Gulshan residence in the capital yesterday night. “Yes, the bi-lateral series with Afghanistan would boost the preparation of Bangladesh team ahead of the much-talked about home series with England. Players, team staffs and even the BCB board of directors wanted this type of bi-lateral series ahead of the England series,” he said.
All the three matches will be of day-night affairs and will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital. The tour will start with the first match on September 25. The second one will be played on September 28 and the third and final ODI will take place on October 1.
The England team will arrive in Dhaka on September 30 to play two Test and three ODI matches.
BCB president Nazmul, however, refrained from announcing the name of Bangladesh team’s fast-bowling coach which was expected to be disclosed in the press meet. “Yes, we have finalised our fast-bowling coach but we will take another one or two days to formally announce his name as he is now involved in a series with his national team,” he said.
Hinting at the expansion of foreign coaching staffs of the national team, the BCB boss said this time their foreign coaching staffs will come in the form of consultants in different departments such as batting consultant, spin bowling consultant etc.
