‘Raise voice against militancy, extremism’

BSS

RAJSHAHI: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP on Saturday called upon all citizens including the law enforcing agencies to be united and raise voice against extremist forces and distortion of religion so that no element can carry out any conspiracy against the country, reports BSS.
“We are over sure; we will defeat the anti-nation elements. We need people’s support to take a bold stance against extremism in the country”, he said while addressing a view-sharing meeting as chief guest.
District Administration organised the meeting titled “Terrorism, Militancy and Law and Order” at its conference hall on Saturday evening.
With Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair, Ayen Uddin, MP, Akhter Jahan, MP, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi division Munir Hossain and SP of Rajshahi Moazzem Hossain Bhuiyan also spoke.
High officials of administration and law enforcing agencies including police, RAB, BGB and Ansar-VDP, political leaders, public representative and member of the civil society were present in the meeting.
Home Minister Kamal said anti-liberation forces had been carrying out militant activities using various names in Bangladesh from the very beginning. He urged all to remain alert and forge community resistance against spreading of militancy. There is no room for militancy and terrorism in the country. “Of course, we all root out militancy collectively”.
He alleged that the fundamentalists were carrying out attacks in the name of Islam, although Islam never preaches killing people to establish the religion.
He said ‘We can never let Bangladesh in the hands of some extremists and derailed people.’ There were political patronisations behind the Gulshan and Sholakia militant attacks.
“The masterminds behind these attacks will be brought to justice within a shortest possible time,” he said adding that chapter of one of the masterminds was closed in Saturday’s Narayanganj gunfight incident. Chapter of other kingpins will also be closed immediately,” he asserted.
