The employees of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society began work abstention yesterday for an indefinite period demanding implementation of the 8th pay scale.
Around 11am in the morning, the employees held a meeting on the office compound at Bara Moghbazar in the capital. The decision to abstain from work came from that meeting.
"We will not halt our movement unless our demand for the pay scale is met," said a director of the society, seeking anonymity. Employees from all levels of the Red Crescent Society have been on a movement for several months. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, a part of the global Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, is an auxiliary to the government.
