A 10-year-old boy was rescued by a policeman on Friday night with critical injuries due to torture allegedly by his employers.
The victim, Yasin Ali, is son of Babul Akter, of Char Ananjipur village in Mymensingh Sadar upazila.
Sub-inspector of Dinajpur Sadar Police Station Bishwanath Roy rescued the boy from Suihari area under Dinajpur municipality at around 8.30pm on Friday and took him to Dinajpur General Hospital. Later, the boy was referred to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
Dr Arman of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital said the boy required stitches on his head and hands.
Dr Borhan, chief of pediatric surgery of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, said they found several torture marks on his body.
Police quoting the rescued boy said Rina Begum, wife of Advocate Faruk, a lawyer of Dinajpur Judge Court and a resident of Islambagh area under Dinajpur municipality, brought the boy about four months ago as domestic help from Mymensingh. Rina allegedly hit the boy with a steel ladle and forced him out of the home on Friday night.
Rina Begum used to torture him brutally over trivial issues, Yasin said.
When contacted, Advocate Faruk said his wife often slapped the boy.
OC of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Redwanur Rahim said police had recorded the victim's statement.
