Bangladesh cross stiff hurdle

Bangladesh made an impressive start with crossing a stiff hurdle in the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship qualifying round defeating Iran by 3-0 yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

In the day’s other matches, China Taipei made an easy win with 7-1 victory over Kyrgyzstan and UAE shared points with Singapore with a 2-2 draw.  
Bangladesh women could have the lead in the very second minute of kick off but Sirat Jahan Shopna’s attempt hit the side net to go in vain.
The host girls began the second half in style with attacking approach and squeezed their opponents’ defence but took time to break the deadlock.
Marzia opened the scoring on 63rd minute when she converted a rebounder of Maria’s effort (1-0) and Moushomi doubled the advantage two minutes later with a spectacular powerful angular effort on a Sanjida cross (2-0).
Substitute Tohura slammed home a superb header over the Iranian goalkeeper when another substitute player Monika provided the cross inside the area on 86th (3-0).

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei smashed Kyrgyzstan by 7-1 to make a flying start in their AFC Under 16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers Group C campaign at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Jhen Ya-Zih and Su Yu-Zsuan scored a couple of goals each while He Xin Rou, Nien Ching Yun and Yu Ya Xuan netted a goal apiece to steered Chinese Taipei to big win.
Adelia Erkinbaeva scored the one goal for Kyrgyzstan in the day’s opening match.
UAE 2 v Singapore 2
Earlier, United Arab Emirates and Singapore began their campaign with sharing points after a 2-2 draw in the second match of the day.
