Textile factory catches fire  
A fire was broke out at Chowdhury Textile Limited at Sirirchala area of Gazipur sadar upazila on Friday night. 
Huge amount of cotton, cloths and machineries were gutted in the fire incident. 
Inspector of Sreepur fire service Zihad Hossain said the fire was originated from an electric short circuit of a room of the factory at around 11 pm and engulfed immediately to the whole floor where cotton and clothes were stored. Workers who were working at the  night shift came out from the factory immediate after the incident. 

5 ‘robbers’ arrested in capital
Anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an overnight drive arrested five members of an inter-district gang of robbers from different areas under Mohammadpur police station in the capital.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed, commanding officer (CO) of RAB-2, confirmed the arrests yesterday morning. He said the detainees were identified as Akhter Hossain, 50, Emdad Sarker, 35, Abdul Quddus Khalasi 40, Mohammad Sanu, 44, and Mohammad Yakub Haldar, 40.

Raw materials gutted in CEPZ
A fire broke out at a textile mill in Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) in Chittagong gutting huge raw materials and finish products.
Fire Service control room official Sarwar Jahan said the fire originated from an electric short circuit of the Al Hamidia Textile Mills Limited owned by Feroj Ali Fokri around 12.15 pm. Two units of fire brigade brought the blaze under control after one and a half hour of efforts, he said.

Anti-militancy rally held 
The authorities of Chittagong district administration in co-operation with Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) staged an anti-militancy bicycle rally with a call for resisting militancy and creating awareness against them.
City Mayor A J M Nasir Uddin inaugurated the rally on Gymnasium premises, beside Chittagong M A Aziz stadium at 9 am on Friday.
Hundreds of youths, students, of different schools and colleges took part the rally and staged demonstrations to resist the menace. The rally started from Gymnasium premises and concluded at the same venue after parading different important streets.
Addressing the anti-militancy demonstration, A J M Nasir Uddin said militancy must be rooted out from the country with all strength for protecting the existence of independent and sovereign of our beloved country.

Fraud jailed in Rangpur
A mobile court I Rangpur on Friday sentenced a so-called "Jiner Badsha" to one-year jail term for cheating common people in Gangachara upazila of the district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gangachara Thana Zinnat Ali said police arrested the so-called "Jiner Badsha" Zakir Hossain, 42, son of Dhola Mian of Godown Para village in Faridpur district from Gangachara Bazar here on Friday noon.
Gangachara Thana Police produced the arrested person before the mobile court of Executive Magistrate and Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aminul Islam in the afternoon. After hearing on the charges brought against the arrested, the learned court found him guilty and sentenced him to one-year jail term without labour. "Later, the convicted person was sent to Rangpur Central Jail," the OC added.

One electrocuted in Barisal
A 67-year-old man was electrocuted in in Barisal on Friday evening.
The victim was identified as Md BM Mahbub Alam, 67, a former officer of District Agriculture Office.
Family and hospital sources said Mabub received serious injuries as he came in touch with a live electric wire while working at his house. Family members rushed Mahbub to the local upazila health complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
