Cop closed for ‘drug peddling’

A Sub-Inspector of city special branch under Barisal Metropolitan Police ahs been closed on early Saturday for hi alleged involvement with drug peddling.

Police sources said a patrol team of BMP led by SI Nazrul of Alekanda police post nabbed one Khurram with five pieces of yaba in Boidyapara area of the city on Friday noon.
Khurram claimed himself as a SI on duty in plain cloth of special branch and the matter was informed to higher officials of BMP.
Then another team led by SI Delwar detained him and he was sent to police station. Later he was interrogated by higher officials on Friday.
Later SI Khurram was closed to police lines after his involvement was found true with drug peddling. Further action would be taken after more investigation, said Habibur Rahman, deputy commissioner (headquarter) of BMP acknowledging the facts.
