Gazi Tyers, a sister concern of Gazi Group has taken an initiative to find out the cricketers from the grassroots as they aim to groom up the budding cricketers for the development of the country’s cricket.
In a joint venture with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) they would try to pick up the talented players from the eight divisions of the country through the programme named ‘Gazi Tyers Cricketers Hunt’.
In a press conference yesterday at a local hotel in the city, it was announced that the programme will be running from September 1 to October 10. A total of 60 to 80 cricketers will be picked up and they will be later trained by the national cricketers and coaches at BKSP.
Finally a 20 to 25 cricketers will be sorted out, who will be given a four-year contract. They will be trained and groomed up as a future talent. Apart from that the cricketers will get “Golam Dastagir Gazi Group Cricket Scholarship” for one year.
Those above 15 years and don’t play any cricket in league phase in Dhaka will be available for selection. At initial stage, a primary selection will be held –on 1st September at Chittagong Divisional Stadium, On 7th September Mymesingh Circuit House, On 17th September Barisal Divisional Stadium, On 19th September Khulna Divisional Stadium, On 22nd September Rajshahi Divisional Stadium, On 25th September Rangpur Divisional Stadium and on 29th September at Dhaka City Club Ground. Besides Gazi Group, a number of cricket coaching centres all over the country are also launching move to create new players.
