Janmashtami celebrated

Janmashtami, the birth festival of Lord Sri Krishna and one of the major religious festivals of the members of the Hindu community, was observed in the cities yesterday with due religious fervour and jubilation.

In Rajshahi, different religious and socio-cultural organisations arranged various programmes including prayer to Lord Krishna, rally, discussion meeting, songs praising Krishna and cultural functions on the occasion. In Barisal, the day's programme began with bringing out a colorful traditional Janmastami  processions.  Advocate Jebunnesa Afroz MP inaugurated the programme.
