President Abdul Hamid yesterday urged the people of all religions to work for the development and advancement of the country through strengthening the existing fraternal and friendly relationship in the society, reports UNB.
“Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony, which boasts of having a secular and enlightened tradition. People of all religions in the country have been observing their respective religious rituals freely since the time immemorial and the main message of all religions is welfare of the mankind,” the president said while greeting the Hindu community members at a reception.
The president hosted the reception at Bangabhaban on the occasion of Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna.
Chief Justice SK Sinha and Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman were present at the reception.
