‘Dressing Table’ at Montreal World Film Fest

Talented filmmaker Abu Sayeed’s film ‘Dressing Table’ will see its world premiere at the 40th edition of the Montreal World Film Festival in Canada. The film will be screened on August 26, 27 and 28 in ‘Focus On World Cinema Section’ of the festival. Beginning from today, the festival will run till September 5.

Produced under the banner of Impress Telefilm, ‘Dressing Table’ is the seventh film of the award-winning director Abu Sayeed.
The story of the film evolves around two lead characters named Shila and Ruhul, who got married two years ago. Both of them were brought up in the orphanages. For being a lower-middle-class family and poor financial condition, they are still struggling to lead their family life according to their expectation. Even there is no dressing table at their home, which is considered to be an essential furniture for a newly- married couple. One day, Ruhul purchases an old dressing table for their little family. Though it’s old, Shila becomes very happy to have it. The next morning while cleaning the dressing table, Shila finds an old diary in its drawer. Now the story turns to a different angle.
It’s not right to read someone’s diary, knowing this fact, she leaves the diary. But one night, she starts reading the diary that comes with no name and address. She finds something interesting within first two/three pages, and spending a sleepless night she completes reading the whole diary. And now after reading the diary, she discovers herself in a new look in front of the mirror of the dressing table.
The key cast of the film includes Tarin Rahman, AK Azad, Nadia Khanam, KS Feroz, Iffat Trisha, Poresh Acharya, and Khalilur Rahman Quaderi, among others.
