Bangladesh will play their maiden practice match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) today.
The 50-over match will be played by 30-member preliminary squad, splitting into two groups, to be kicked off 9:00am.
It was earlier announced that Tigers will play a string of practice matches as part of their preparation ahead of the next bilateral home series against England.
The cricketers will play another two practice matches at the same venue on September 3 and 6 respectively prior to going for the Eid vacation.
Bangladesh therefore will announce their one day squad for the upcoming home series against the English side, who will start their campaign against the hosts with one day to be held at the Tigers’ Home of Cricket on October 7.
Before getting down playing the first practice match, all the players did their practice. Some players including Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim, opener Tamim Iqbal, all-rounders Nasir Hossain and Sabbir Rahman Rumman held their batting practice at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium. Thereafter, they all are engaged in football at the SBNCS.
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan joined the team’s ongoing practice session for the first time after spending his week-long vacation though he appeared in Mirpur after returning home from Maldives, where he went with his family to pass some times.
Pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman has already been dropped from the 30-member squad due to his surgical treatment on left bowling shoulder. At least four or five will be needed for him to return to action being fully recuperated.
Just two and half-a-month ahead of the England series, Bangladesh started their pre-tour training camp on July 20, which was opened with fitness. Following the end of the month-long fitness camp, they began their real practice with bat and ball on August 20.
On the other hand, Bangladesh women’s cricket team will play their second practice match against Dhaka Metro Under-15 boy’s team at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium today.
They had played their first practice match against Dhaka Metro Under-16 boy’s team on August 23. The eves’ team will anounce their final sqaud for the forthcoming series after the end of the practice matches in the next Saturday or Sunday. They will fly for London on September 2 to play two ODIs and two T20Is against Ireland, who announced their ODI and T20 squads. Laura Delany will lead both one day and T20 for Ireland.
Bangladesh will also announce their squad after the end of the practice matches.
Meanwhile, BCB-High Performance (HP) will also announce to end their short-term camp with the practice match.
They will play a couple of practice matches to be 3-dayer which will be held in Sylhet and Fatullah respectively. The first match will hold in Sylhet on August 28-30. And the second match at Fatullah on September 3-5.
