Two alleged members of the banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested in Kalihati Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
They were identified as Jewel Mian, 26, and Abu Sayeed alias Sobuj, 24.
Police also recovered huge explosive materials, jihadi books, machetes and memory cards from their possession, said Police Super of Tangail Mahbub Alam at a press conference yesterday.
He said based on secret information a team of Detective Branch of Police and members of Special Task Group arrested Jewel Mian from Elenga area. Later, based on his information the team searched a house of one Ataur at Bollovbari village in Kalihati Upazila and arrested Sobuj from there on Tuesday night.
