Over 4 lakh flood-hit farmers to be rehabilitated

A total of 4 lakh 18 thousand 511 flood affected small and marginal farmers across the country will get rehabilitation support from the government for crop production during late summer and Robi sessions, reports BSS.
“The assistance will be provided to the farmers as necessary input support for crop production,” Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury told a press conference held at the ministry’s conference room at the secretariat yesterday.
The minister said the support would include necessary paddy seedlings, different vegetable and lentil seeds and fertilizer.
“Farmers will get all the support free under the agriculture rehabilitation and subsequent incentive programme of Taka 42.10 crore”, she said.
Under the rehabilitation programme, a total of 17,211 flood affected small and marginal farmers under 16 flood affected districts will get late variety paddy seedlings and different vegetable seeds.
Besides, 15,000 farmers will get vegetable seeds including Lalshak, radish, Palong Shak (Spinach), eggplant and sweet guard.
