Telapia fish safe for health: Study

Telapia fish produced in Bangladesh is completely safe for human health, according to a research report, according to BSS.
There is no toxic chemical in Telapia fish here. It is hundred percent safe for health and rich in nutrients. Therefore, the people can consume Telapia fish without any hesitation, said Fisheries and Livestock Secretary M Maksudul Hassan Khan at a seminar in the city today, citing a research conducted by Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI).
BFRI Director General Dr Yahia Mahmud presided over the seminar on Production of Telapia Fish and Public Health at the conference room of department of fisheries. Department of Fisheries Director General Syed Arif Azad, Bangladesh Agriculture University former Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Anwarul Islam and Prof Dr Abdul Wahab of the same university addressed the seminar.
Frozen Food Exporters Association Vice-President Golam Mostafa, Bangladesh Telapia Foundation President Dr Mohammad Golam Hossain, Jessore fish farmer Azizur Rahman also spoke on the occasion, among others.
BFRI Chief Scientific Officer Dr HM Kohinur presented a keynote paper in the seminar.
He said 50 samples of Telapia fish were collected from different parts of the country and no presence of any toxic chemical was found in any of those.
Fisheries and Livestock Secretary M Maksudul Hassan Khan said Telapia fish produced in Bangladesh is tasty, safe and healthy.
He urged the media to dispel fear among the consumers regarding Telapia fish by giving the right information.
