The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court yesterday asked the Bangladesh Bank authorities to inform it by August 31 on whether Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital (JRRMCH) in Sylhet has taken any bank loan.
It also asked the principal of the medical college to submit copies of the institution’s bank transactions before it by August 31.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order during the hearing on a petition filed by the medical college and hospital authorities.
Earlier, on January 19, the apex court in an order asked the medical college authorities to relocate the institution in six months over allegations of corruption and anomalies.
The JRRMCH filed a petition in June seeking one year’s time from the SC for relocating the institution. During the hearing on their petition, the SC yesterday came up with the order.
Former Justice Nazrul Islam appeared for the medical college during the hearing.
