The Supreme Court yesterday stayed for three months a High Court order that granted bail to an alleged member of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) Fida Muntasir Shaker in two cases, reports UNB.
A five member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the order following a petition filed by the government.
The Apex court also ordered police to submit a report by this time, said Additional Attorney General Momtajuddin Fakir.
Earlier on June 6, the High court granted bail to Fida Muntasir Shaker for six months following two petitions filed by Shaker. Later, the government filed petition seeking a stay on the court order.
Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Shaker from Banani DOHS area on June 6, 2015. Later he was shown arrested in two cases filed with Uttara West Police Station on June 18 and Cantonment Police Station on July 12 on 2015 under anti terrorism act.
