10 JU students get NEF scholarship in Japan
SAVAR: A total of ten female students of Jahangirnagar University have received Nagao Natural Environmental Foundation (NEF) scholarship (1st phase) this year.
JU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Farzana Islam today awarded the students and also distributed stipend money for six months at a programme
In the programme, vice chancellor thanked the Japanese government for their initiatives taken for the development of education, culture and infrastructural growth of Bangladesh. Conveying sympathy to the Japanese citizens who killed brutally in militant attack in Gulshan café, she said NEF scholarship proved that no evil forces will not able to break down the friendly relation between Japan and Bangladesh. University Pro-VC Abul Hossen, Treasurer Abul Khair, dean of Law institute Manjurul Haque, Prof Khabir Uddin of Environmental Science department, president of Microbiology department Ali Azam Talukder were present, among others, in the programme.
The NEF is a non-governmental organization of Japan dedicated to promoting nature conservation and supports undergraduate students in developing countries in Asia.

Relief among flood-hit people distributed 
A group of teachers and students from ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB), led by Iqbal Ahmad, dean, Faculty of Business, ASAUB, distributed relief materials among the flood affected people at Koliya Union Parishad under Daulatpur Upazila in Manikgonj district on Friday, says a press release.
They distributed relief among 450 distressed families. Rice, molasses and oral saline (made by the students of the Department of Pharmacy of ASAUB) were in the relief materials. Kartik Chandra Mondal, Assistant Professor, Md Wahidul Habib, Assistant Professor and Md Mahmudul Haq, Senior Lecturer from Department of Business Administration and students from different departments participated in the relief distribution campaign. Zakir Hossain, chairman, Koliya Union Parishad and local respectable people were present and helped ASAUB representatives to distribute the relief.
