Man gets death penalty, mother life for murder

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a man to death and his mother to life-term imprisonment for killing their neighbour at Chandanish upazila in Chittagong in 2005.

The court of second district session judge Mohammad Rabiuzzaman handed down the verdict. The court also slapped the convicts Tk 50,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
The convicts are Humayun Kabir and his mother Shamsun Nahar. The duo is now behind the bars.

At one stage of the altercation, Shamsun Nahar hit Monir on his chest by a stick while Humayun hit him on his head by shovel, said the PP.
