RANGPUR: Bangladesh College-University Teachers' Association formed a human chain in front of the Rangpur Press Club yesterday protesting militancy and communalism in the name of Islam.
The speakers said the teachers’ community never gives any priority to the militants in the educational institutions.
They urged teachers to look after the students in their own educational institutions and encourage them to involve with different cultural programmes, sports and other development activities so that the students could not involve in militancy.
The speakers said Islam is the religion of peace. The people who are involved in militancy and terrorism and spreading panic will not be spared.
They vowed to resist heinous activities like militancy. They also urged the government to find out the masterminds behind the militant attacks across the country.
Principal Md Abdul Wahed Mia was in chair. Principal Rezaul Hoque, Prof Rawsan-ul-Kawsar, Prof Abdul Baten, Prof Moyen Uddin Sah, Principal Zahanara Begum, were present, in the programme, among others.
