13 Shibir men, one imam held at RU

Police in a drive arrested 13 activists of Islami Chattra Shibir and an Imam with jihadi books, calendars, diaries, leaflets and report books from Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque Hall at Rajshahi University (RU) yesterday afternoon, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Mehedi Hasan, Abdul Haque Manik, Shariful Islam, Anarul Haque, Mostak, Abdus Sabur, Sajid, Fahad Alam, Abul Khayer, Yusuf Ali, Sirajul Islam Sumon, Lokman Hossain Siraji, Raihan Hossain Sumon, all students of different departments of the university, and Sanaullah, imam of the hall’s mosque. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (East) Amir Zafor said police launched a drive in the hall with the assistance of the university administration around 3:00pm. Police arrested the 14 suspects from different rooms while Jihadi books, calendars and diaries were recovered from the hall’s mosque, he added.
