Five killed in Comilla road crash

Five people, including a couple, were killed and another was injured in collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Muradnagar-Iliatganj road in Muradnagar upazila yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased were identified as auro-rickshaw driver M Rubel, 35, son of Abdul Latif of Kacharkandi village in the upazila, his younger brother Sohel, 32, Sohag Miah, 40, his wife Nasima Begum, and Mannan, 65, of Panchpukuria village in the pazila. The accident took place when the speeding truck collided with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction at Paiob on the road around 10 am, leaving auto-rickshaw passenger Sohel dead on the spot and five others injured, said officer-in-charge of Muradnagar Police Station Mizanur Rahman said. The injured were whisked off to Muradnagar upazila health complex where doctors declared four of them dead. Critically injured Himel was shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, the OC added.
