Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said the government has attached its highest priority to expansion of education across the country to expedite the development process, reports BSS.
“Education is an important tool to boost development process in all sectors,” he told a seminar on “Current education system of Bangladesh: Teachers community” in the auditorium of Eden Mohila College in the capital.
Education, Research and Welfare Centre organized the seminar, an official release said.
Emeritus Professor M Anisuzzman of Dhaka University, President of World Federation of Teachers Union Prof Mahfuza Kanam, Principal of Eden Mohila College Prof Gaytree Chaterjee, teachers and researchers, among others, addressed the seminar with President of the welfare centre Prof Ayesha Begum in the chair.
Nahid said, “Teachers are main force in the education secto .... So, they (teachers) have to play a key role in imparting education.”
