Bangladesh Mess Organization (BMO) staged a sit-in programme in front of the National Press Club yesterday morning to draw the attention of the authorities to their 10-point proposal for reviewing their living conditions in the wake of the countrywide militant crisis, reports UNB. Mess-dwellers have been facing the brunt of the government's operation to root out militancy, in the form of block raids that disproportionately target the communal living quarters populated mostly by single men, often in severely cramped conditions. Habibur Rahman Manir, president of the BMO, presided over yesterday morning's programme. To ensure safety in messes and for security of mess-dwellers, on behalf of BMO, secretary general Ayatullah AKhter placed 10 proposals in a keynote presentation, said a press release of Bangladesh Mess Organization.
