Stocks finish week mixed amid lower trade

Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges finished week mixed yesterday amid lower transaction as investors were cautious at almost every session, reports BSS. 
Compared to last week, the borders DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week only 10.72 points up at 4585.08 when the blue-chip DS30 was 14.80 points down at 1765.93 and the Shariah DSES was 1.97 points lower at 1121.50.
The market saw dull trading throughout the week when the daily average trade value was 13.71 per cent down at Taka 470.42 crore and the daily average trade volume was 13.71 per cent lower at 11.76 crore shares. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended the week flat, with its general CASPI index closing 23.06 points down at 14103.56.
Most of the issues traded during the week closed lower, with 161 incurring loss and 136 advancing while shares of 330 securities changed hands.
During the week, investors sold large-cap stocks and mutual funds when some of them were focused on consumer stocks. Engineering, bank, cement, pharmaceuticals, power, fuel and food and allied stocks were also on moderate demand.
The week’s major gainers were Stylecraft, National Tubes, SEML, Ambee Pharma and Standard Bank. The major losing securities included Meghna Pet, Meghna Condensed, Imam Button and Sandhani Life. National Tubes topped the week’s turnover list followed by MJLBD, Aman Feed, BSRM Limited and SPCL.
