National Sports Council (NSC) will hold an Anti Terrorism Rally with a view to transmit the message of peace, tolerance and friendship in the society through sports on September 7.
State Minister for youth and sports Biren Sikder stated this r while he visited Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association office in the capital yesterday.
The Sports Minister said, “We believe sports can be a strong medium to transmit the message to the young generation as well as to the society. We will involve renowned names of all sports disciplines and the federations and the media in the rally.
The rally will start from Bangabandhu National Stadium and will terminate at the National Press Club” said Biren Sikder.
The secretary of National Sports Council Ashoke Chowdhury was also present on the occasion.
He further said that his ministry moving ahead with formulating ‘sports friendly’ national sports policy. “You see we have changed and added so many things in the amended national sports policy which is going to make public very soon.” The national ports police was announced in 1989 by the then state minister for youth and spots Col (retd) M A Gaffar. But unfortunately no government yet to run national sports as per national sports policy.
Replying to a query he said that the present government is very much keen to find out the talented players from the grassroots. “The government has sanctioned Tk 50 crore for 31 disciplines under the talent hunt programme.”
During his visit the minister directed the NSC officials to make a clean-drive around Dhaka Stadium swimming pool which was surrounded by a number of ‘unwanted’ people in the sports arena.
BSJA acting president Aghore Mondal and general secretary Raihan Al Mughni were also present on the occasion.
