Four-day art exhibition underway at Zainul Gallery

A four-day group art exhibition titled ‘India@Bangladesh’ is underway at the Zainul Gallery, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka (DU) in the capital. The exhibition is showcasing artworks by young artists who participated in an art competition prior to the show.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla inaugurated the exhibition on Tuesday, while Dhaka University Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique was present as a guest. They also distributed the awards among the participants at the event.
The High Commission of India, in association with Dhaka University, organised an art competition titled ‘India@Bangladesh’ for young and talented art students from seven universities and specialized art institutions at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University from August 11-13.
51 participants were selected to take part in the competition. They are from the University of Development Alternative, Shanto Mariam University of Creative Technology, Jagannath University, Dhaka University, Jahagirnagar University, Narayanganj Art Institute and Dhaka Art College.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be here today to acknowledge and recognise the talent and dedication of 51 young students who participated in the art competition entitled ‘India@Bangladesh’. To see so many students keen to participate in the competition is a matter of great satisfaction. After all, it is this spirit of eagerness and passion for art that we wish to celebrate today.
The idea behind this art competition was to give a platform to young students to express their impression of the special bond between India and Bangladesh and see how they bring it alive on canvas through paint and brush.”
The exhibition is open to all everyday from 3pm to 8pm, until August 20. l
