RAJSHAHI: Women enriched with technical and vocational education could be the effective means of freeing the society from gender disparity besides attaining economic emancipation, reports BSS.
“Women must be fully engaged in technical and vocational education and training,” said Prof Dr Mustafizur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
He was addressing the first part orientation and guardians gathering ceremony of Rajshahi Women Polytechnic Institute (RWPI) here on Tuesday as chief guest.
Dr Mustafizur Rahman says gender equality is essential for the achievement of sustainable development goals which is not attainable without the full involvement and engagement of women. Women and girls must enjoy equal access to quality education, economic resources and political participation as well as equal opportunities with men and boys for employment, leadership and decision-making at all levels.
He said need-based vocational training for the youths both boys and girls coming from poor families are very important but their post-training employment has become an urgent need for eradicating unemployment problem. The persons with technical education can contribute a lot to the country.
Dr Rahman viewed there is no alternative to build skilled human resources to make the country self-reliant. The entrepreneurs should come forward towards establishing small and medium industries in the region to create employment opportunities for the trained women.
