The harvesting of jute is near to completion. The rotting of jute in Boalmari, Madhuhali and Alfadanga faced some difficulties due to paucity of perennial water though in other upazillas the rotting had no problem because of flooding.
The source said that under the present government as the cultivators have been getting good price that has encouraged the growers to bring more land under jute cultivation.
The ever increasing demand of jute goods particularly which was under the clutch of synthetic fibers helped increase the demand of jute, the source said.
Immediate after sowing of jute seed there was almost drought like situation that was very alarming for the farmers but that scare has been over because of sufficient rainfall, temperature and necessary humidity, the source added.
