Huge production of Sheep wool is bringing success in the production of various winter clothes including shawl, blanket and doormat, reports BSS.
The information came from a inter-ministerial meeting of Fisheries and Livestock Ministry which said Bangladesh is now producing 3,060 tones sheep wools every year from 34 lakh sheep.Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque, State Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda and senior official of Agriculture and Textiles and Jute Ministries, among others, were present in the meeting.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute and Jute Research Institute, Bangladesh is producing standard clothes under “Development and Conservation Project of Local Sheep in Society Based and Commercial Farm”, the meeting said.
The meeting also said the production cost of Shawl is only Taka 244, suiting Tk 258 and Blanket Tk 495.
The meeting has also taken a decision to give samples of the products to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The meeting has also taken initiatives to work together with Agriculture and Textiles and Jute Ministries for making the products popular.
